✿ Organic Watercolour Paint from plants

Since I make flower arrangements, I always look for ways to appreciate the materials at different stages. Today, I made organic watercolour paint from flower petals and leaves.

  1. Put flower petals / leaves in a container.

  2. Add a little water

  3. Crush the petals/leaves and extract liquid

  4. Squeeze the petals/leaves for juice.

It was fun to make some watercolour paints from plants. When you crush plants, you can hear some sounds and feel the textures of the material. Focus on crushing the plants is a therapeutic experience. It might be good to use flower petals or some plant material with scent.

Observing the colour of liquid, you might find it beautiful. e.g. Watercolour from hydrangea flower petails, you might enjoy seeing the colour change when you add baking soda. Some plant materials change colours when adding baking soda.

Tips: Try not to add too much water. Only a tiny amount of water to be added. If it is too watery, you might want to add extra materials to make the paint darker.
